LTC RENEWAL CAN BE RENEWED ONLINE. NO CLASS TIME OR SHOOTING IS REQUIRED.
ITEMS YOU WILL NEED THE DAY OF CLASS.
Eye Protection- Sunglasses, prescription eye wear.
Hearing Protection- Inside ear or over ear- Electronic Hearing preferred
Handgun- .22 caliber or larger semi-automatic or revolver cleaned in good working order
Ammunition- 50 rounds (no reloads)
State Issued ID-Drivers License
Head Wear- Ball cap or something covering head while on range.
Weather Appropriate clothing- Due to flying brass No Tank tops, low cut shirts or flip flops. Must have closed toe shoes. Shorts are fine to wear
Please bring snacks and a sack lunch we will not leave the range. Food is alright in classroom.

Before you apply for an LTC its important you to ensure that you meet the eligibility requirements as outlined in Texas Government Code. The Texas Department of Public Safety will not refund any application fee's if they determine you are not eligible to have a handgun license. You must take an Texas LTC Class with a TXDPS Instructor.
Classroom time will go over the Texas Laws and signage related to carrying a handgun. Student must know the signs related to 30.06, 30.07 and 51% sign. The laws related to carrying a handgun in the State of Texas. Student must pass a a written test along with a shooting proficiency. Once the classroom and shooting proficiency test is passed student will be give LTC-100
When filling out your application do not leave any blanks on the application. You will register with State of Texas as a new user. Make sure to provide DPS with five years of consecutive resident information and five years' of employment data. Make sure all dates do not over lap but match up correctly. If you have been in school provide that information with all dates matching up to five years along with school name.
IF you are a Veteran claiming discount for current or prior military service. Have a copy of your DD214 to attach to the application along with the LTC100 While your in the application process go ahead and book a date for your finger prints with Identago. The locations to get finger prints is driven off your zip code. You will be given several dates and times of places you can get your finger prints taken. The cost of the finger prints will be $10.00. While doing your finger prints you will be given a document to print with a bar code. On the page you will need to look for a 119Q code that will need to be put into the website for Identago when asked.#4 finger prints prior to doing your application.
The State of Texas will never email you. They will contact you directly by US Mail should they have any questions?
All fingerprints is done through a private company, Identago. Unfortunately, even if you have been fingerprinted in the past you will still have to go again and be finger printed for your LTC. Go ahead and schedule your finger prints online while you in the application process. You can schedule an appointment for $10.00. Signing up with Identago website is easy to use. Follow the directions and read options carefully. Identago is driven off your zip code and will have various locations, times and dates that will be available for you to schedule your fingerprints. Once you schedule online you will be emailed a bar code and on the bar code you will see a code you will need to use, Service Code 119Q91 or what ever in on your email from Identago. Gather up all your supporting documents prior to finishing the application process. LTC100 and DD214 if required. All attached documents going to the application must be in PDF format when attached. To submit LTC-100 and or DD214 you must go back to the DPS website under handgun licensing- Submit supporting documents. You must have already completed the application prior to uploading documents. When you are in the process you will go back into the DPS website as a returning user. Fill in all the blanks make sure your documents are attached prior to submitting forms.
Once your application has been completed your LTC 100 and DD214 if required attached to the application, your digital finger prints have been completed. Now you now must wait for your LTC to arrive. IF any additional information is required by the State Of Texas they will contact you via US Mail.
